Rob writes:
Christmas started with a bang for the residents of Barwell town, when a small meteor exploded low in the atmosphere, showering the town with several fragments of L6 chondrite.
Pictured is the 93g fusion crusted fragment being inspected by the authorities, [the roll-over is a] 96g fragment alongside the finder's letter of provenance. Both pieces were found by Jean McKellor, former Curator of Geology, Leicester Museum, and recently purchased from the finder.
