During the 2014 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, the ace photographer at the MPOD will be visiting meteorite dealers and bringing you highlights from their rooms.
MPOD writes:
Today we meet Geoff Notkin of Aerolite Meteorites. He is based in Tucson, Az., and is well known as one of the Meteorite Men (the one on the right), and for his new show, STEM Journals.
He can be found in room 323 at the Hotel City Center.
Photo 2 is something truly unique - hunks of an iron meteorite that were used as tools. The center piece was a hammer - note the flat face at the red arrow. The other two pieces are partially formed axe heads.
Photo 3 is a fabulous 69.85kg Campo del Cielo oriented nose cone. Geoff is running a reverse auction on it - the price drops by $500 every day at 10 am. One of these mornings, the intrepid photographer will be standing outside the door at 9:45 :)
Photo 4 shows a nifty display for another big Campo. Created by a local artist, it cradles the piece securely and puts it where you can appreciate it. Lisa Marie Morrison graciously appears in the role of "scale cube". Check out her web site - Sirocco Design.
