The Turtle

634 gram individual.   Iron, IAB-MG

TKW 30 metric tons. Observed fall: no. Impacted about 50,000 years ago. Found 1891 in Coconino County, Arizona, USA, between Flagstaff and Winslow.

Count writes:
I found this anatomically thumbprinted specimen, along with five others of approximately the same weight, in a "take your pick" box of miscellaneous rocks in a gem and mineral shop in Las Vegas, Nevada several years ago. The employees had no clue that there were meteorites in the box of discards.

If you don't already do it, be sure and check out the inventory in any rock shops you run across. You might be happily surprised. I have been several times now.
