Who doesn't love a meteorite with a good story? Meteorites have a long history of being used for spiritual
or religious purposes. A great example of this is the Trâpeăng Rônoăs meteorite which fell in Cambodia on July 4th, 2010. Classified as an H4 chondrite with a total known weight of 13 kilograms, Trâpeăng Rônoăs has a lot going for it!
It's a witnessed fall that fell on America's Independence Day, it has a relatively low TKW, but most importantly, it was used for spiritual purposes by the locals in Cambodia.
Like Punggur, which fell earlier this year, water was poured over Trâpeăng Rônoăs by the locals, who
believed that the meteorite was a gift from God. The water was used for healing purposes and believed to have curative properties.
To my knowledge, there are only two other pieces of this meteorite in private hands. I acquired this
specimen directly from the university that was responsible for discovering this fall and classifying it. It was cut from the sample used for classification (the 1.2kg mass).

Interesting story. From a strictly visual perspective, it reminds me of Wuan, a Chinese fall from 1986. |
