Macroscopic Description - Cecilia Satterwhite
The exterior of this achondrite is greenish/gray and has a coarse-grained texture with patches of black, shiny fusion crust. The interior is medium-gray with some weathered plagioclase visible.
Thin Section Description (,5) - Brian Mason
The section shows an aggregate of anhedral pyroxene and plagioclase grains (grain size 0.3-1.8 mm), in proportion pyroxene:plagioclase approximately 2:1, with accessory chromite, troilite, and nickel-iron. Individual grains of pyroxene and plagioclase are deformed but not granulated. The pyroxene is hypersthene (Wo2Fs45) with relatively coarse (0.04 mm wide) lamellae of exsolved augite (Wo44Fs17); mean composition of pyroxene is Wo11 Fs38. Plagioclase is fairly uniform in composition, An89-92. The meteorite is a eucrite, intermediate in composition between Binda and Moore County.
