2021 Fall Date Project

The MPOD Caretakers want to present meteorite falls on their fall dates. For example, Sikhote Aline on 12 February.

This Project will not dip into the MPOD archives so the Caretakers will appreciate anything you can contribute.

To reserve a date just let us know. Thank you in advance :)

21.9 grams.   L6

TKW 4.5 kg. Fall not observed. Found 1937, Lincoln County, Colorado, USA.

Anne writes:
With the kind of provenance that I like:

First reported by Nininger as 2 masses found in 1937, 498g and about 4kg;

then acquired by Walter Zeitschel, the famous German collector;

who sold it to Professor Winbeck, as per the letter and the label;

and finally back in Colorado.

Thanks Anne for giving us a look at that stony. Cool provenance.

Yes, unmistakably Niki Zeitschels handwriting. I still have all her correspondence re: acquiring and purchasing meteorites from the Zeitschels!
