The first four pictures are of an almost completely crusted individual.
Provenance: Thomas Stalder, and Marc Jost of Space Jewels

The two thin section photos are from Steve Brittenham, who writes:
The "Tissint Fusion Crust" image (photo 6) is a composite. The upper half shows the top edge, but the exposure wasn’t as good, and because it was at a lower magnification, it didn’t show the detail as well. So the composite shows the fusion crust edge on top, and the bottom part blows up a section to show some the cool characteristics that include bubbles and flow around that bigger bubble. Unfortunately, to get any detail in the melted crust, I had to overexpose it, so there are a lot of exposure artifacts, though I figured it was worth it to get the detail.
Photos 5 and 6 copyright Steve Brittenham and may be used with attribution.
At first glance it looked like there were space aliens in photo 6! Just kidding, but one of the features does look a bit like a space poodle!
