4123 grams. Iron, IIAB
TKW 23 MT. Observed fall 12 February 1947, Primorskiy kray, Russia.
The MPOD crew says: Do yourself a favor and click the pictures to see them in high resolution.
Stephan writes:
My biggest mistake in my decades of collecting meteorites was selling
this Sikhote-Alin (IIAB). I suffered badly emotionally for two years.
However, I have now bought this meteorite back for almost double the
price. For this, I also had to go into debt that I do not regret.
Why I
would like to introduce this oriented 4 kg heavy meteorite to you again
is the beauty of its really almost intact melt crust. Not brushed off or
rusted away, as is the case with other Sikhote-Alin individuals. Flow
marks, flowlines, bubbles, roughness of the back with flow marks and the
softness of the front with the flow structures can be seen everywhere at
almost every point.
My pictures from that time on this portal did not
show you this, they were all bad pictures. In all the years I haven't
seen a comparable individual. So now - these pictures are for your
enjoyment. If you zoom in on these images you can see most of what I
mentioned earlier. |
