2021 Fall Date Project

The MPOD Caretakers want to present meteorite falls on their fall dates. For example, Sikhote Aline on 12 February.

This Project will not dip into the MPOD archives so the Caretakers will appreciate anything you can contribute.

To reserve a date just let us know. Thank you in advance :)

Alfredo , your question is very interesting. There is a visual difference between a diogenitis and iherzolite ?

the smaller specimens are absent of fusion crust

is a sample examined (with very reliable techniques) and officially classified as diogenite, the specimen I bought from Marcin Cimala (who holds the main mass) at ENSISHEIM

Beautiful! But I'm curious what clues indicate that this is meteoritic and not some terrestrial lherzolite? Some Moroccans were selling similar material at the Sainte Marie aux Mines show in 2019, but I couldn't see any fusion crust or metal. I'm not saying I doubt that it is diogenite, I'm just wondering what the visual clues are, if any.
