What is a thin section?       What do all the colors mean?
Thin section between crossed polarizers.   Achondrite-ung

TKW 8.39 kg. Fall not observed.

Solar writes:
This thin section of NWA 6704 is composed of large orthopyroxene oikocrysts which, due to their intricate polarized color gradients, were difficult to seamlessly stitch together. The final result is a rainbow of vivid colors, patterns etched 4.543 billion years ago. Be sure to view the post for additional information and images.
