Iron, IIIAB
TKW 97.6 grams. Fall not observed. Found 15 March 2022, Xinjiang, China.
Ziyao writes:
From the MetBul:
Discovered by Ashanjiang Mahemuti in the desert near Turpan city, Xinjiang Province, on March 15, 2022, and subsequently acquired by Ziyao Wang in March 2022.
Optical and SEM investigation of a cut surface shows elongate, mm-scale blebby Fe-Ni metal in a matrix of troilite, in approximately 70% and 30% proportions, respectively. No Widmanstatten pattern is present, although metal grains are elongate in three orientations similar to those in Widmanstatten pattern. Minor terrestrial alteration extends into the interior.
IIIAB iron. The sulfide-rich nature of the sample is consistent with the S-rich nature of IIIAB irons. As and Cu may be higher than expected due to a contribution from the sulfide-rich portion of the sample.

# 4/5 would be an extremely difficult, ancient, language to decipher. How is that pattern possible.... Gorgeous. Thank you

Yes, looks like Mundrabilla. An Uygur Mundrabilla! |
