Scott writes:
From the type specimen. Also called "Tchifaddine"

"Rivers of melt" and some interesting patterns in the melted metal.

Pic 1: In full sun, to best show off the black clasts and lighter melt.

Pic 2: With reflected skylight to highlight the metal areas. Note the patterns in the melted metal—these are metal/troilite mixtures that separated during cooling.

Pic 3: A close-up of some of the interesting clasts and metal.

Pic 4, 5: 20X close-ups of the metal/troilite patterns.

Thanks to Craig Zlimen for optimizing the matte surfaces to best show the metal/troilite patterns. As with Bencubbinites, mirror-polishing can make photography very challenging, so you need just a touch of scuffing.

Rumor? Was there ever a doubt?

Thank you, Scott. Even if it is a sky reflection in #1, that blue, (top right/bottom right), caught my eye as it did in Anne's 9-11-15 , Isheyevo, MPOD. Yes, any others would be interesting too.

Great pics, Scott! I had already mostly completed a post for this meteorite too, but you beat me to it!! Of interest to me is that I have several pieces with metal, and they are all different. One has granular metal like yours, others have an almost 50% mix of troilite within the nickel-iron, and others have yet different metal features. One fun meteorite!!

John, hibonite would be so cool, but if you're referring to pic 2, it might just be reflected blue sky. I thought hibonite was something you'd more likely see in a primitive chondrite (e.g. Isheyevo), but curious to learn more about other meteorites that have it
