Cal writes:
As a novice collector (about a dozen or so years ago, a time when I didn't know enough to buy online) I would purchase meteorites from a mineral/fossil dealer at a local flea market. He would have one or two trays of relatively common meteorites in Riker mounts at the back of his booth that I would rummage through. I thought that I did real well to buy this attractive slice labeled H3.8 (see pic 3) and loaded with colorful chondrules from him for a pretty low price. When I brought it home and checked the entry in the MetBull, I was dismayed to discover that it was in the database as provisional, classification unknown. So I placed it to the back of my H-chondrite shelf and hoped that it would get an official classification some day.

Well, that day arrived earlier this month when NWA 1289 was classified and approved not as a H3.8, but as a LL3.15 with a TKW of 288 g. So now I get to move it from the back of the pretty crowded H-chondrite shelf to the front of the much less crowded LL-chondrite shelf!
