What is a thin section?       What do all the colors mean?
Thin slice.

John writes:
As Gary, the Big Kahuna, recently said (as well as others), the inner world of meteorites (thin sections) is an amazing thing to experience under XPOL. Besides these two pics being of the same image, there are thousands of others as the polarizer is rotated through 360 degrees. Try this--you will get hooked.

The rotation between the two pictures is about 60 degrees and magnification is around 37x.
