What is a thin section?       What do all the colors mean?
Thin section.   L6

TKW 860 grams. Fall not observed. Found October 9, 2007, in the Buck Mountains, Arizona, USA.

Found at the arrow (green or red) on this map.

Dr. writes:
L6 chondrite containing a complexly-structured holocrystalline dike which is the subject of recent LPSC and MetSoc conference presentations. This is a scan of a one-inch round doubly polished thin section which shows the dike crossing the sample, accompanied by sub-parallel shock veins, as well as a weathered fusion crust along one edge of the sample. Scan obtained by Alex Ruzicka.
