Almost 500 gram individual.   Pallasite, PMG

TKW 920 kg. Fall not observed. Found 1822 in the Atacama Desert of Chile.

Hanno writes:
In the spring of this year I was with Phil Schmitt-Kopplin in the Imilac Strewnfield and we had the great experience of finding this beautiful individual alongside other pieces.

After a steep ascent with lots of curses and strong breathing, the metal detector suddenly beeped heavily. The joy was great about this beautiful find. We cut, sanded and etched the almost 500 gram heavy Individual at home using the best possible cutting line. The different color of the olivine is probably due to the location of the piece and the corresponding weathering.

Excellent find! It's always amazing when you are able to pull something like this out of a strewnfield that has been extensively searched already.

I always prefer hunting by eye, but Imilac is on my wish list of places to swing a detector. Well done!
