  Iron, IAB-sLL

TKW 1.17 tons. Fall not observed. Found 13 October 1938, Modoc County, California, USA.

John writes:
My first trip to the Smithsonian meteorite related display area was in April of 2016. In truth this visit was a spur of the moment decision to go there for an hour with a work associate, because we were not able to do some of our work outside on this cold rainy afternoon. The Smithsonian pictures that I have shared with the MPOD were taken with a work camera (compact Fuji type) that I had borrowed for the day. I had my colleague take a picture of me sitting next to the famous Goose Lake meteorite from California. What a specimen! ...the meteorite that is. Goose Lake is a BIG and beautiful iron meteorite.

Thank you for clarifying you exclamatory statement. (:>). Did they estimate a Fall date? Gorgeous! -- the meteorite silly. Thanks John

I am on vacation visiting hometown, came home from cemetary of family to find this picture being revisted. Not like me to put a picture on the internet...I did feel connected with such a perfect meteorite and wanted to share I guess.

Beautiful pic, John. For comparison I recommand to google for the sumi ink zen-drawing "Patriarche et Tigre" (also known as "Two patriarchs uniting their spirit") ...
