From "the Handbook of Iron Meteorites" by V. Buchwald:
In 1845, a tract of land near Nashville was being offered for sale at a very high price because it was said to contain iron ore of high quality; many fragments had been found there, and some had even been sold as silver ore. A local blacksmith had bought one of those fragments and made a chisel out of it. Dr. Troost recognized it as meteoritic and bought the mass and the chisel, but by then only 5 kg was left, and even that showed signs of having been heavily re-heated and hammered.
The largest fragments are now in the Natural History Museum, London, an the Museum of Harvard.
