Jürgen/jnmczurich writes:
Acapulco is a strange meteorite with chondritic composition and achondritic texture. It fell on August 11, 1976, single mass, 1914 g. Type specimen of the Acapulcoites Dimensions: 31 x 21.5 x 2-3 g with some fusion crust. Weight of sample: 4.88 g. Rare to find in this size in private collections.

Playing with light shows the greenish looking silicate matrix and the metal-rich texture. The close-up view shows a field of about 8x6 mm.

Very interesting texture. I'll take Mendy's word about how it looks under the microscope, but I bet it's as good as he says. I didn't realize this meteorite fell on my birthday -- now I'm going to have to acquire a piece!

Juergen, this is an awesome meteorite. The texture is so beautiful under a scope.
