What is a thin section?       What do all the colors mean?    
Thin section in cross polarized light.   Martian (shergottite)

TKW 8.58 kg. Fall not observed. Found November 1999 in Oman.

The second picture shows in high magnification a detail of the first picture: an area of fast recrystallization on the edge of a pocket of shock melt. (Can you find it on Picture 1?)

Great field of view including all ranges of grain and crystal sizes. This is probably one of the top 5 masses worth of Martian material found, up there with Zagami and Tissint?!

The feathering of the crystal growth is incredible in picture #2. I would guess it just right of the big blue crystal in picture #1. WOW!
