Publication following the cited abstract is under way. For sure it's fully melted impact glass that have flown sufficiently far (>10 km?) from their impact site to get splash-formed and dispersed over large surfaces (more than Irghizite). Following Koeberl's paper it's a matter of rather arbitrary threshold to name irghizites tektite or not. So let's say we are going on questioning this threshold. Macroscopically, it has all characteristics of tektites. |
