Pierre writes:
Newly discovered tektite-like field from Atacama desert; first finds in 2012 by M. Warner; dedicated field work in 2013 by CEREGE (CNRS/Aix Marseille University) and Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile; independent finds by L. Labenne in 2014. First two pictures show the largest splash-form found in 2013, and third picture shows typical field conditions (at least four tektites can be seen).

The second picture was composed by P. Ponel from 10 pictures at different focus, using a 3D software.

 11/9/2014 4:39:15 AM		 Publication following the cited abstract is under way. For sure it's fully melted impact glass that have flown sufficiently far (>10 km?) from their impact site to get splash-formed and dispersed over large surfaces (more than Irghizite). Following Koeberl's paper it's a matter of rather arbitrary threshold to name irghizites tektite or not. So let's say we are going on questioning this threshold. Macroscopically, it has all characteristics of tektites.
