398 grams.   Iron, IAB-MG

TKW 30 metric tons. Observed fall: no. Impacted about 50,000 years ago. Found 1891 in Coconino County, Arizona, USA, between Flagstaff and Winslow.

A unique Canyon Diablo graphite nodule has been lost/stolen in the US mail.

The perp was probably hoping for credit cards or jewelry and was disappointed they only got a rock. They may eventually realize it could be a meteorite and ask about it online or with one of you. I'd appreciate any leads to me or Mark Lyon.

Sadly, this nodule is irreplaceable as it is unusually shocked and lonsdaleite-bearing (see pics). The weight is 398 grams.

Please pass this on to anyone else you think might be able to help.

Thanks!

An extraordinary piece indeed. I wish much that it will re-appear, under which circumstances ever.

WOW! and what a shame. :( A diamond-rich (lonsdaleite) specimen...like highly shocked Ureilites...seems impossible to cut when working on them.
