15.5 kg end-cut.   Iron, IIAB

TKW 300kg. Fall not observed. Found 1875 in Chile.

jnmczurich writes:
IIA iron, hexaedrite. Collection specimencut-off from unreported 40kg North Chile mass. University trade (1998).

The unusual looking outer crust is a result of natural pitting corrosion due to Salpeter content in the soil of the Atacama desert.

WOW! Super picture That is the very thing that motivates me and get`s out the door here in Sedona Az. I drive a very short distance to an area near Thousand trails off of HWY 260 close to Cottonwood and hunt all I want for free its a nice area that is near the river with many exposed rock layers near by I have found some nice examples with pictures soon to follow. Thanks to this really Super Great web site that makes it possible. Tim
