The first ones were plowed. This one was extracted with an excavator after detecting a few months ago.

Was it plowed up in a farm field?

All kind of wetness in the Champagne region consists completely of champagne, of course. That might help to survive, Alfredo. To be serious. How surprisingly long iron meteorites can resist weathering demonstrate many fragments of the Twannberg iron: fallen 160.000, perhaps 200.000 years ago and having survived two glacial periods, some of them look as fresh as Sikhote. In any case: a gorgeous, nicely sculpted and, uh, quite big Saint Aubin iron with beautiful patina. Great, Anne.

Amazing that it remained intact after 50 more years of oxidation in that wet environment!
