Graham writes:
Edeowie Glass is found In the South Australian Outback between the Flinders Ranges and Lake Torrens. Flat slabs of slag-like silicate melt have been found quite abundantly. Embedded clasts displaying shock metamorphism in quartz suggest that the thermal source may have been an impact event similar to Tunguska or Libyan Dessert Glass.

I have actually seen this in the Bush past Hawker South Australia, but as i was young and not a collector I just ignored the pieces I saw! Wishing I didn’t now (LOL). I purchased this from my friend Norbert (Rocks on Fire) and it has his provenance.

I have read a lot of information about this and some great articles about it. I will post some links later.

Looks as fresh iron meteorite, like Taza. Also with his nice Regmaglypts, a fine piece!

Nice and interesting post, Graham. The history and possible source are fascinating.
