Thank you everybody. Glad you like it, and yes it is a rare one. The whole mass was only 3kg, small for an iron meteorite, and most of it is in the Monnig Collection. |

A nomenclature conjecture...Properly written, it is from the Palo Duro Canyon, arguably, the second largest US canyon after the Grand Canyon. The meteorite name was likely improperly adopted as a compound word. Palo duro ("Hard Stick")in the original Spanish probably referred to the great number of juniper trees there, in the sense of "hardwood canyon". |
