881.3 gram uncut fragment.   Iron, IIIAB

TKW 325 kg. Observed fall 17 May 1990, Bashkir ASSR, USSR.


Anne writes:
Fragments totaling about 10 kg (the largest 6.6 kg) were recovered from impact craters, M. I. Petaev, Committee on Meteorites, USSR Academy of Sciences, Uliza M. Ulynovoi 3, Moscow 117313, USSR. See also Global Volcanism NetworkBulletin 15, No. 6 (30 June 1990).

Main mass still in the crater.

Thank you everybody. I am glad you are interested. Yes, Graham, this piece was ripped off another, and you can almost see a crystallization pattern on that side. And Graham2, the whole thing was obviously subjected to very harsh aggressive scrubbing. And Dr. Mike (and all) you will be able to study it "up close and personal" in my room in Tucson if you are coming to the Show.

Why does this look so old and weathered if it was an observed fall in 1990?...looks almost as weathered as Gibeon.

Another great meteorite Anne, The 1st piece looks like it has some crystallization? Does this Iron etch well? Thanks for sharing this one Anne.
