22.647 grams. Iron, IVA
TKW 41 kg. Fall not observed.
From Buchwald
A mass of about 41 kg was found before 1863 during work in a sandstone quarry on Bückeburg, near Obernkirchen. The iron had apparently been embedded in the moraine sand 4.5 m under the surface but about 3 m above the sandstone banks. When a chemical test showed the mass to be "Swedish iron," the quarry owner lost interest and discarded it, and not until 1863 was its meteoritic nature recognized by Wiepken (1884).
Oliver writes:
From old to new: Freshly restored fine Octahedrite (specimen found in 1863), etched with modern methods by Mirko Graul (IMCA 2113, Germany).
