84.1 grams. L6
TKW 84.1 grams. Fall not observed. Purchased by Jansen Lyons from a Moroccan meteorite dealer at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, 2015.
Jansen writes:
Newly classified NWA. Was purchased during the Tucson show in February of 2015. It was at the bottom of a weathered NWA XXX bin of chondrites for sale, and was covered with camel hair at the time of the purchase. Has a great amount of fusion crust, both cracked and fresh, and the broken face shows some very detailed chondrules. Cut face also reveals a shocked, light-light brown interior. Original weight before cutting for classification was 84.1 grams. Most of the pictures are before the cutting for classification, but the ones that show the cut face are during the classification process.

Well done Jansen,
You knew to dig down into the dealer's box for the pick of the specimens :)
This is a great meteorite and well done M8!

Astonishing: abundant FeNi specks in photo #6 even though it is an L-chondrite. |
