A great meteorite and you did not give up Larry!
The history and the perseverance makes this a very important find!
Well done |

Hi Bob, If more (unmatched) stones are found in the area it will be designated "Bullhead City DCA" and Thumb Butte and Laughlin will be included. |

Bullhead City may still become the name of that DCA. There's a precident. When the NomCom made the Yelland DCA they included the already named Yelland Dry Lake meteorite. What this means is that the NomCom could have included Thumb Butte (and the misnamed Laughlin) name into a new Bullhead City DCA.
Still not sure why there was a problem with Bullhead City being part of a DCA. |

By the way CONGRATS to both Todd Parker and Larry for getting this meteorite into the Met Bull. I really like what they did, where they submitted 3 individual stones for classification, instead of characterizing an entire strewn-field from just one type-specimen. |

Nice find! |

I know the Laughlin/Bullhead City area, having visited it with my parents. If I had known there were meteorite prospecting prospects there, I would have ignored the casinos in favor of metal detectors! |
Great finds Larry, I hope to see more. 11/19/2015 11:28:40 AM |

Congrats, Larry. My sole classified find was a struggle to get named as well, and ultimately my first choice that best described the find location was not approved. It's unfortunate that politics and people's personal opinions affect this naming process, I wish it were otherwise. |
