3.31 gram slice.   L6

TKW 25 kg. Observed fall 13 December 1795, Yorkshire, England.

Roberto writes:
Wold Cottage reportedly fell just feet away from a farm worker named James Shipley.

I got this specimen in a trade with Rob Wesel, who got it from Moritz Karl. Moritz told me that he got the stone from which this slice was cut in a trade with Göttingen university.

It also came with a 43 gram piece of the original Wold Cottage monument (1799) with Graham Ensor provenance. Aside from the unbelievable history and that it comes from a time when people weren't even sure rocks fell to Earth from space, I love this piece's provenance!

I decided that I wanted a piece like this after reading Meteorite Times' June 2010 "IMCA Insights" (see link above) about the fall and a piece that was returned to Wold Cottage in 2009 by Martin Goff!

Fantastic collection piece Roberto! Regards the article linked above though, I only facilitated the donation to Derek and Katrina Gray, the Wold Cottage specimen was generously donated by Dave Gheesling 😊
