At this year's Ensisheim meeting I have been lucky enough to acquire one piece of this newly discovered Atacama tektite. Really wonderful specimen. My spontaneous idea: it must be connected with Imilac. Well, this expectation was somehow idiotic of course. The Atacama is definitely large enough for several meteorite falls. Now I'm looking forward whether it will be possible to find an up to now unknown crater which is clearly related with these beautiful tektites. As we all know: there are not too many confirmed tektite strewnfields on our (still) blue planet.
Thanks for sharing, Pierre. |
