What is a thin section?       What do all the colors mean?
Thin Section   Martian (nakhlite)

Ray writes:
This is one of my newest Crown Jewels in my ever growing collection of t/s. This one was made by one of the best in the industry - Steve Schooner. Thin section was received from Simon de Boer in trade from his ever growing collection.

NWA. 998 is so friable that it has to be stabelized using epoxy before cutting. Thanks to Simon for the trade / a great addition to My Planetary t/s. Still learning on methods to improve my photography of thin sections.

I really love Martian Meteorites and this is one of the best. Remember that the original Nakhla came from my country. Some people still have small pieces and will never give it away even for thousands of dollars. They think that it is a blessing from heaven.
