5.29 grams.   unclassified

TKW unknown. Observed fall 19 August 2020, Pernambuco, Brazil.

Roberto writes:
There were two hammer falls in August of 2020. The first occurred on August 1st and was a carbonaceous chondrite with a low total known weight.

The second occurred on August 19th, 2020. It happened at 10:18am over the small town of Santa Filomena in the Pernambuco state of Brazil. This fall had at least three documented hammers, one of them being the hammer stone that smashed through the roof of Janete Kerlaine Pereira's home, landing on her bed.

This 5.29g fragment is part of that stone. The piece of roof tile is part of the roof which was discarded by Janete and her brother, Cleidivan Silva (aka BamBam).

In this video, you can hear "BamBam" describing the event.

Very cool piece, and nice story. August was a good month for meteorites (but maybe not so much for roofs). At least Janete fared better than Ann Hodges, who was in her bed in 1954 when she got hit by the Sylacauga/Hodges meteorite!
