TKW 10.9 kg. Fall not observed. Found February 1972, Roosevelt County, New Mexico, USA.

Before the NWA meteorites appeared on the market, the Kenna ureilite was for a long time the (almost) only ureilite available for private collectors, as well for museum collections and universities.

The shown sample is a Kenna block with some crust and five cut faces. Three cut faces are step-like wire cut faces, due to the nano-size diamonds within the ureilite.

It was very hard to take good pictures of the dark gray to black ureilite . Therefore I choose a darker background to get a smoother contrast to the sample. The close-up images are 5.5 x 8 mm.

Very special piece from the heroic time of meteorite collecting, J*rgen, pre-NWA and pre-www as well. And a pretty hard job for the wire saw, I guess.
