Spectacular Meteorite Fall of Flensburg Reveals Liquid Water Existed in Early Solar System


 


Dieter writes:
On September 12, 2019 a daylight fireball was observed over Northern Germany. It was seen by hundreds of eye-witnesses and registered by an all-sky meteor camera and several videos. One day later, on the 13 September, a small meteorite fragment - a C1 carbonaceous chondrite of 24.5 g - was found by accident by Mr. Erik Due-Hansen on the lawn of his front yard in Flensburg.

I think it of great significance that of the other two pieces in this classification, one was found in Antarctica and the other was found on the moon in 1969 by the Apollo 12 astronauts! Amazing, look up Bench Crater in the Meteoritic Database. A rare and special piece indeed!
