136.7 grams. 4 3/8" X 3 5/8". Iron, IAB-MG
TKW 30 metric tons. Observed fall: no. Impacted about 50,000 years ago. Found 1891 in Coconino County, Arizona, USA, between Flagstaff and Winslow.
Rick writes:
A spectacular Canyon Diablo meteorite slice with graphite and troilite inclusions, and numerous streaks of impact micro-diamonds. The Widmanstätten pattern exhibits nice chatoyance like luster changes when viewed from different angles. Cut and prepared by Craig Zlimen. Almost impossible to cut due to the high diamond content.
Strange, never before seen diamond crystal structures have recently been found inside the Canyon Diablo meteorite. |

Diamondiferous interior eminence invokes awe and mystery which reaches from the inner siderite to the outer limits of the imagination- in a word, noteworthy. |
