This is a hammer meteorite - fragments struck at least 2 houses and the Park Forest fire station.

Well, John, like most Falls, US or otherwise, it might have been cheap on the field, but it quickly went very high. Then as more and more pieces were found it went down, way down. And now it is all gone, stashed in collections, and there is very little left on the Market. Same old principle: offer and demand. But of course you could make me an offer! ;-) |

The PF price $$ went up very fast over a month's time. Crazy start to any US find first costs for collectors going forward from this particular fall, IMHO. Not sure why...other than momentum to cover costs ++. |

Nice chunk of Park Forest Anne. Similar to the dual colors of Chelyabinsk. In the earliest days of the PF fall, this piece might have been purchased for $200 or $300 from a purchasing/or finder "guy/gal" in the field. I still say Dammit...fuudddggge...etc.!! At the time, I only bought one really nice slice from some guys from Washington who were there. It is almost all dark melt but does have a nice big white chondrule in the mix. I should have gone to PF right away too...20/20. :/ |
