What is a thin section?       What do all the colors mean?

TKW 955 grams. Fall not observed. Found 2013.

The thin sections were made from the slice. Photo 2 is in plane polarized light. Photos 3 and 4 are in cross polarized light.

We are getting "spoiled" even getting to see these pictures, personally i have not collected the scientists dream of owning a selection of all the type classfications in thin sections . I wish I had started there. I thoroughly enjoy seeing how they differ under cross polarized light. thanks again Peter

 7/11/2015 6:36:09 AM		 Lodranites are so pass* these days. :)... Seriously Wow Peter!. As a meteorite collector starting in the late 1990's, I/we have seen a lot of "new" finds of special types from the deserts. Now, with all of us being able to purchase a piece or slice of Lodranite if we want is a big deal to the collecting community. Please, appreciate them !!
