97 grams.   Diogenite

TKW 12 kg. Observed fall 27 June 1931, in Tatawin, Tunisia.

The MPOD guy was supposed to put this up on June 27 but failed to do so, perhaps because of the effects of smoke inhalation from the Big Horn fire. Apologies to the all-time biggest contributor to the MPOD.

thanks Anne...agreed, it is not crust. I started to think "no crust" later today when I looked again in more detail. Still awesome.

Thank you Paul, and tell the MPOD guy he is forgiven. And John, sorry to disappoint you, but no there is no crust on this Tatahouine. Apparently this fragment broke along some of the dark veins and what you see as black is really one side of one of those black veins. It is common in Tatahouine. The crust when it is there is ash grey, not black. And this piece comes from the Alain Carion Collection.

97 grams, wow! The ones you usually get to see are only a few grams but 97 grams ... c'est formidable, Anne. Thanks for sharing!
