Collection at the Aricebo Observatory in Puerto Rico.   unclassified

Steve writes:
On May 28th my wife and I visited Puerto Rico. I was very lucky to go see the Arecibo radio telescope. It was a 2 hour drive from where we stayed. When we got there I was totally stunned to see how big this thing is. The dish is 1000 ft. across. The array is almost 500 ft. across. The 3 towers that hold the array are 300 ft. tall, made of solid concrete. Wire cables extend down to hold the array in place. There is a small meteorite collection there. One of them is a large multi-kilo gibeon. All in all it was a great experience. Not many people get to go there, so I feel real lucky.

Been to the park and the lighthouse at Arecibo, but didn't know about the Radio Telescope. Next trip! Thanks.

Yes, Arecibo is HUGE. My wife Debbie and I were there in 1998... I was taken aback at its size. The various movies in which Arecibo has be used do not show its enormous size. We were not shown the meteorite collection. Looking at your photo, Steve, I note a large Nantan slice -- and it actually looks rust-free!

Sorry, but the correct name is not ARECIBO?
