Jürgen / jnmczurich writes:
Happy birthday Stannern, exactly 210 years on Earth. It fell on May 22, 1808.
Pictures 1 and 2: Stannern end section 59.8 g, and small 98% complete individual 23.6 g. The end section is a museum trade (1995), the small individual is a collector trade (1993), former NHM Vienna collection specimen.
Picture 3: Close-up view of the polished face of the end section, about 8 x 6 mm.
Picture 4: Close-up view of the shiny black and glassy looking fusion crust. It looks like it fell yesterday.
Picture 5 and 6: Stannern thin section, cross-polarized filter pictures
Picture 7: The first page of the historic book "Beyträge zur Geschichte und Kenntniß meteorischer Stein= und Metall=Massen, und der Erscheinungen, welche deren Niederfallen zu begleiten pflegen.", D. Carl von Schreibers, 1820.
Picture 8: The historic sketch "Situations Plan" of the Stannern strewnfield, taken from the old book from D. Carl von Schreibers, 1820. |

Fantastic pieces and documentation, jnmczurich! Perfect glossy fusion crust and the interior look like a yesterday*s fall. |

That is a complete a collection of Stannern. A collector's dream to have not only the meteorite, the TS but also related ephemera as well.
Congratulations! |
