Anne :-) I should have been more clear and said 11 stones were recovered (not "fell").

Thank you Graham, glad you like it. And Thank you Doug, that's a lot more information than I had been able to find about this meteorite!!

Great meteorite Anne :) This must have looked beautiful with the gorgeous black crust and as a whole stone? It looks great now and has a cool matrix. Cheers.

The beautifully contrasting large black regions through this meteorite impressed early researchers. Lindstr*m theorized that the interesting breccia contained parts that had been heated much more than others, before they were cemented into their final form. It appears Nordenskj*ld speculated that some large plutonic formations on Earth were formed through the geologic ages by accumulation of material from meteorites like St*lldalen, which underwent reactions during the accumulation, stratifying and causing volcanic craters - to explain iron, nickel and magnesium deposits that so far had puzzled scientists. This was an incredibly colorful Peekskill-like event witnessed across a large swath including Stockholm. 11 stones fell, including one right through the branches of a tree in woods near a workman.
