  H3.8

TKW 667 grams. Fall not observed.

Bernd writes:
This is a full slice of yet another provisional NWA chondrite: NWA 1288.

It is a metal-rich slice with crisp small chondrules. The Hupé brothers offered it as an H3.9 but the Met.Bull. says it is an H3.8.

Purchased from the Hupés on May 04, 2004.

These metal rich NWA's are really spectacular with light reflection if the slice has a good polish. Visitors who see these in lighted case are often impressed with the metal they see in a stone/rock. Thanks for sharing Bernd...the provisional status is frustrating other than it being a step up from an unclassified NWA with our personal guess, based on look and the "magnet" test. Provisional status with a change from H3.9 to H3.8 might be another step up to being classified. :/
