600 gram individual. H5
TKW 4 kg. Observed fall 28 October 2018, Draâ Tafilalet, Morocco.
Hanno writes:
Here is an exactly 600,0 gram individual of the new classified fall named Ksar El Goraane.
I heard of this fall last year at the Hamburg Mineral Show.
In March 2019, I went with Andreas Grünemeyer to the strewnfield (last photo) where we found 3 small individuals.
Later I had the chance to acquire this 600 gram piece.
As far as I know, there is no larger piece than this available. So, maybe the new main mass?
It has nice fresh black crust, is flight marked, shows contraction cracks, has secondary fusion crust, and only small injuries from impact in the rocky terrain.
What more do we expect from a fresh fall?

I love when a weight like "600.0 grams" defines a truly great meteorite. It is like it was meant to have a such a precise identity. Congrats Hanno. |
