TKW 1600 kg. Fall not observed. Found 19 February 2009, East Uweinat Desert, Egypt.
Stefano writes:
Small but interesting Gebel Kamil meteorite. Show on the surface the typical texture of these meteorites, probably due to the action of the sand and the desert wind.

agreed Andi. GK's have been a great addition to our meteorite collections, and to the science of craters. Thanks Stefano. |

Totally underrated meteorite: Crater maker (imho the most beautiful "iron" crater on earth), ungrouped iron, rather limited (only one crater), unique texture and a lots of brilliant papers and documentation. Gebel Kamil is one of my favorite meteorites and this one is a really nice little specimen! |
