Thanks, John. I wasn't sure by the coloration if it was weathering or a heat rim. I have a eucrite with a similar feature, but it's more sharp in its definition. That one was described as a heat rim by a meteoriticist, so at least for it, I don't have to trust my limited experience!

Steve, I don't believe that notable rim would NOT be related to "heat". To me it looks like a typical weathering "rind" often seen with weathered earth rocks like fine grained metadiabase, basalt, or similar.

Nice slice, and great closeup photography! Is that dark feature a heat rim? Very aesthetic piece.

Interesting inside! Like some of the different colors and patterns in some of the NWA 869s, so fun to compare the slices.
