Jill Campbell, Nullabor sheep farming pioneer with her husband and brother-in-law, made this find over 100 km from her desolate homestead. She was impressed by the remarkable glossiness of the half kilo stone and believing it to be a meteorite, presented it to the Western Australia Museum under the Museum Act of 1969 which made it a crime for individuals to remove or possess meteorites fallen on public lands except for their transport to their legislated owner, and established the Crown's ownership of meteorites and vesting the Museum of Western Australia, created in the same Act, as its receiver. In 1986, Australia become independent. Thanks for sharing some very sharp photos of this glossy meteorite!
