31.9 grams.   L3.7

TKW 22.7 kg. Observed fall 4 September 1852, 16:30 LT, Harghita, Romania (then was old Hungarian Kingdom, Transylvania).

Zsolt writes:
There is my recent trade. A 31.9 gr Mezö-Madaras L3.7 end-cut with nice, black Fusion Crust. Its probably one of the biggest pieces in private hands. She comes from the Hungary NHM with quality copies of old labels. I like it because it's a historic piece and very nice sample of a primitive L chondrite with relatively rare sub-type. See the wonderful chondrulated surface and the very interesting black inclusion.

History:
Mezö-Madaras is an L3.7 ordinary chondrite that fell in Harghita, Romania, on September 4th, 1852. Over 22 kg (50 lbs) of this meteorite fell in a shower of stones.

When the US space program prepared to receive moon rocks in 1960, they studied chondrite meteorites. In this NASA work, they used the Mezö-Madaras meteorite. According to an 1988's study it contains a carbon-bearing materiel which may represent a new specimen of C-rich ordinary chondrite.

That's one of the best !!! The black inclusion has my head spinning, it's as if it was exposed to severe burning gaseous fire then encapsulated by the rest of the material after.

so nicely preserved for an older fall, the crust in pic 3 looks as if the space stone fell yesterday
