Moni writes:
Bob told his friends:
Another Lucerne Valley dry lake meteorite find by Moni Waiblinger. The sun was setting and she was complaining that she had been searching all day and still hadn't made a find, and wished that she could stay an additional day so that she could have a chance to make a rare Leap Day find (February 29th). It was just before sunset that Moni spotted this stone that had been recently exhumed in a gully. It wasn't until much later, while transcribing the recovery-data into a log, I noticed that the date-of-find in GMT was: 2016-02-29 01:30 UTC - technically February 29th. Moni had actually found her "Leap Day" meteorite, after all!

It is quite possible that this stone is paired to Lucerne Valley 002 (plus 53 years of additional weathering).

Wow, Moni, congrats. Perhaps at sunset shadows make the surface visually more 3D, easier to spot such a space jewel?
